thecurseofthestrawberrymoon_cover_150x228“It was truly ‘you cannot put this down until you finish it’ kind of book. I absolutely LOVED it. Cannot wait for the next one.”

“Loved the characters and the setting of the story so much that we took a drive to beautiful Keuka Lake to see it’s beauty for ourselves. Kept me guessing to the very end.”

“This easy-going, well-written novel is a discovery in the way that finding a great local restaurant, seeing a brilliant production by a regional theater company, or hearing an outstanding concert by local musicians are discoveries. I am looking forward to reading the next Caviston sisters mystery.”

NEW RELEASE: Gerry McCullough

The_Seanachie_2_front_covereBOOK TITLE: The Seanachie 2: Norah on the Beach and other stories

PRICE: 99p / 99c

GENRE: Irish Short Stories, Humour

SYNOPSIS:

The second collection of twelve humorous Irish short stories featuring Old Seamus, the Seanachie – a lovable rogue from the fictional Donegal village of Ardnakil – whose amusing yarns and escapades are narrated by his old friend and regular visitor, Jamie. These stories were first published in the popular Irish weekly magazine from Wexford, Ireland’s Own.

A Seanachie is an Irish storyteller and Seamus is a great example of a storyteller. His storytelling covers many eras of recent Irish history – from his own childhood to modern times, and he often manages to get up to great antics in his attempts to help his friends out. The fire is lit and the smell of burning turf fills the air, the Guinness is cold, his pipe is going and Seamus is ready to tell another few yarns!

These stories involve a billy goat, a horse race, a kitten and a giant cucumber. There’s a wedding, a birthday and a white Christmas – a mixed up present, that leads to another wedding, and a rescue by the wrong man, who turns out to be the right one in the end! Romance, humour, intrigue and a glimpse into Irish life as once used to be.

Seamus is as crafty as they come, is not averse to ‘taking the law into his own hands’, can keep a secret for many years and is a willing nemesis to any who wish harm to the innocent. Seamus O’Hare, Donegal’s answer to Robin Hood!

Gerry_pod_logoAUTHOR BIO: Gerry McCullough, born and brought up in North Belfast, is an award winning short story writer with a distinguished reputation. She has had nearly seventy short stories published, broadcast, or collected in anthologies, and around thirty poems published in various magazines. In 2005 her story Primroses won the Cuirt Award (Galway Arts Festival) and she has won, been short listed, and been commended in a number of other literary competitions since.

Gerry graduated from Queen’s University Belfast with a Joint Honours degree in English Literature and Philosophy, and followed this with an MA in English Literature, also from Queen’s. She now lives in Conlig just outside Bangor, Northern Ireland. She is married to singer-songwriter, writer and radio presenter Raymond McCullough, and has four children.

Gerry’s first novel, Belfast Girls, originally published by Night Publishing and now published by Precious Oil Publications, was a #1 bestseller on paid UK Kindle Literary Fiction. Belfast Girls is set mainly in the years after the ceasefires and the peace process, and is the story of three girls, friends since childhood, from different religious backgrounds, who remain friends in spite of this difference; and of their lives and loves.

Danger Danger, her second book, an Irish romantic thriller, was followed by a collection of 12 Irish short stories, The Seanachie: Tales of Old Seamus. Angel in Flight, featuring Angel Murphy, ‘a strong minded Belfast girl’, was published in June 2012. Angel in Belfast, the second Angel Murphy thriller, came out in June 2013. Gerry is also the author of a children’s book, Lady Molly & The Snapper, a time travel adventure set in Ireland and on the high seas, in which the brother and sister travel back to meet, among others, Cuchulain, St Patrick, Grainne the pirate, and victims of the Famine.

Johnny McClintock’s War, her latest book, published in August 2014 is set before, during and after the first world war and the twenties’ Irish troubles and focuses on a man’s inner struggle with his faith in the midst of outward conflict.

REVIEWS:
“This is yet another great thriller from Mel Comley – fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat, you won’t want to put it down!” S. Hodge

“I loved the whole Lorne Simkins series by Mel Comley so was really excited to find that she had released a new book. Within around 10 mins I had downloaded and started to read. This is a great story which moves at a breakneck pace. What really sets it apart though is the author’s typical characterisation. From practically the first page we get an insight into the personalities of both Brian and Ellen. Although in this book Ellen is the stand out character, I imagine that if this develops into a series we will learn more about Brian’s background. I love the way Ellen’s family are woven into the story, the situation with her mother is almost as interesting as the main plot.
I couldn’t put this book down and sincerely hope that Mel has more stories planned around these characters.” Kittycat2000

REVIEWS:

The end of the world may or may not come next month, but even if it does, I doubt it will happen as inventively as in this short story. Some of the verb tenses threw me off, but overall, I enjoyed this creative apocalyptic tale.
